Chronology of cameras Kodak
Kodak stopped making the Retinette in 1969 and the VR series were the first 35mm cameras it had made for 17 years. This was one of the simplest of the series; others were made in Japan, Hong Kong and Thailand. (Koning) It was probably prompted by the explosion of similar cheap 35mm cameras in the early 1980's and the end of the 126 and 110 formats.
It has four apertures, F5.6 for flash, F8, F11 and F16 for ISO 100, 200 and 400 respectively. Other manufacturers recommended the use of ISO100 and used the apertures to vary the exposure according to weather conditions. Kodak sold an identical camera, the K500 until 1993.
